"NON-BENGALI:'What is the
significance of 29th July 1911 in the history of Freedom Movement for
Indian Independence?' BENGALI:'On that special day, all the Bengali
cum Indian footballers of Mohun Bagan Club defeated the football team
of East India Company (England) in the final match of Shield
Tournament by playing bare-footed. It was not just a victory of a
football match but also of those Indians who wanted to
free their motherland from the cruel British Government. That day
motivated the freedom fighters of India to enhance their freedom
movement against the British. After accepting a defeat in that
football final, the British Government shifted their capital from
Calcutta to Delhi out of fear.'"-Arindam Sain
